The new owners of the development site where Hungry Jacks is set to be built in Gracemere are moving ahead with the plans.
The property on the corner of Lawrie and John streets sold in December 2022 for $979,000.
Plans for the site were first discussed with Rockhampton Regional Council planning officers in July 2021, with two food and drink outlets proposed over the vacant land area, including the township’s first Hungry Jacks.
Changes were made to the original development application submitted to council under the new ownership, removing the second tenancy and rotating the Hungry Jacks tenancy.
The design includes a drive-thru, 16 on-site car parks and access off John St.
The revised plans were approved by council in March 2023.
An application for the operational works, including the access and parking, stormwater, water and site works, were submitted this month.
The new owner of the site is Enhance Property Investments, which has Hungry Jacks in Beenleigh, Dalby, Kingaroy and Harriston.
Its wider portfolio includes 13 assets valued at $200 million and future growth opportunities of $80 million.
In the past decade Gracemere has really steamed ahead with new residential developments and major road work on the main street and on the Capricorn Highway into Rockhampton.
The site had last sold almost 10 years prior for just under half of the latest figure, when it went in 2013 for $424,000.
