Hungry Jacks plans proposed for Lawrie Street, Gracemere

The development is proposed to have two food and drink outlets on the site, including a Hungry Jacks, making it the fourth in the region.

Plans have been lodged with Rockhampton Regional Council for a Hungry Jacks to be built on the corner of Lawrie and John Street, on the left hand side of the main street where the vacant land is.

The plans include proposals for two food and drink outlets, one of which is to be a drive-thru Hungry Jacks.

The second outlet, which does not appear to be tenanted at this stage, has indoor and alfresco dining.

The development site would have 28 carparking spaces, a drive-thru waiting bay and 11 queuing spaces.

The triangular site has 80 metres of frontage to Lawrie Street and 114 metres frontage to John Street.

The Hungry Jacks building would be on the Lawrie Street side of the site.

Access to the site is proposed to be from John Street.

A number of advertising signs have also been proposed for the Hungry Jacks development.

The documents note a pre-lodgement meeting was held with Rockhampton Regional Council planning officers in July 2021.

It was noted at this meeting the development would need to be designed to front John Street.

The plans were submitted by Adam and Sparkes Town Planning on behalf of the Gibb Group.

The Gibb Group was behind the Capricorn Coast Homemakers Centre, which included a Hungry Jacks that was opened at the end of last year.

The Gibb Group also developed the Gracemere Toll Logistics site and the Gracemere Industry Park in 2010-2011.

There are currently two Hungry Jacks restaurants in Rockhampton.

Hungry Jacks was founded in 1971 with the first restaurant in Perth and there are now more than 440 restaurants across Australia, employing 19,000 people.

The development application was submitted to council this month and is now under assessment by the planning officers.
