After a horror year on Queensland roads, the QT is taking a moment to remember the lives lost on Ipswich roads and the family members who will be spending their first Christmas without their loved ones.

Between January 1 and December 12, 268 people have died as a result of crashes on the state’s roads.

Fifty fatalities occurred in the Southern Police Region, which Ipswich is included in, up from 41 at this time last year.

Ipswich police recently urged motorists to remain safe and sensible while behind the wheel these holidays.

Officers across the district will be maintaining a high visibility presence on local roads over the festive season to ensure motorists are travelling safely at one of the busiest times of year for the state’s road network.

“Be sure to put your own and all other road users’ safety first these holidays, don’t meet us by accident,” a spokesman said.

Here are the faces of the Ipswich road toll in 2021.
