A Darling Downs tradesman was caught with illegal drugs on two occasions after police launched a covert operation into the man, a court has been told.
When Joel Daniel Yosh pleaded guilty before Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 30, the court was told police had launched an investigation into the 35-year-old at the beginning of 2025.
Police prosecutor Anita Page said on March 20, police followed Yosh when he made a trip to Logan.
Ms Page said Yosh was observed walking through the Logan Hyperdome Shopping Centre with a small rectangular package under his arm, and officers suspected he was there to meet an unknown person.
Soon after, when police intercepted Yosh and searched his car, Ms Page said he told officers he had 12 MDMA pills in his pocket.
Two months later, police raided his family home in Toowoomba.
Ms Page said when police executed the search warrant on June 12, officers found three vials of steroids in a kitchen cupboard.
The court was told the father of two had no criminal history and worked full-time as a manager for an electrical company.
Solicitor Brad Skuse said the company Yosh worked for had a business in the Logan area, which was the reason for his travel to the region.
Mr Skuse said the object police noted he was carrying under his arm was an electric meter device.
Regarding the vials of steroids, Mr Skuse said Yosh used the drug to help with an injury he sustained playing rugby union.
Ms Paige and Mr Skuse submitted that a fine was an appropriate penalty.
Yosh pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing dangerous drugs and contravening the direction of police and was placed on a good behaviour order for six months, with a $500 fine to hang over his head.
No convictions were recorded.
