A man charged over a serious two-car crash on the Bruce Hwy at Curra earlier this year has had his charge mentioned before court in Maryborough.

Toogoom’s Joel Victor Hormaechea, 39, was charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm in the wake of the crash.

The crash happened on March 20, about 10pm.

A 28-year-old man from the Rockhampton region was treated in the intensive care unit at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital after suffering serious injuries after he was trapped in the wreckage of his LandCruiser after the crash.

During the brief mention before Maryborough Magistrates Court on Monday, lawyer Morgan Harris asked that the matter be listed for a bail application at the next appearance.

He said along with a bail application, the videolink could also be used for a committal handup.

Mr Hormaechea did not appear during the brief mention.

The matter was adjourned until August 22.

He has not entered a plea.
