A young car thief has been given parole release following a series of crimes committed in the Gladstone region.
Isaak Marcus Stanley, 19, appeared in custody in Gladstone Magistrates Court on October 18 where he pleaded guilty to 19 charges, including two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicles, attempted unlawful use, entering premises with intent, and drug possession.
In relation to the unlawful use offences, the court heard that Stanley took a car from a West Gladstone residence while its owner was away.
It was told Stanley also took a car from another victim and while driving it, the vehicle sustained “significant damage.”
On a third occasion, Stanley tried to steal a car but failed.
Solicitor Bianca Wieland said Stanley was still a young man and he had experienced “tragic personal circumstances” as well as being homeless.
Magistrate Mary Buchanan sentenced Stanley to nine months’ jail and declared 28 days pre-sentence custody as time already served.
She fixed parole eligibility at October 18, 2023.
Stanley was disqualified from driving for six months.
No restitution was sought and convictions were recorded.
