The court heard that on July 15, around 10.15am, police saw Duca driving a red Holden sedan with two other men, despite the vehicle being registered to a 63-year-old woman.

Police intercepted the car as it was trying to enter the McDonalds drive through and police told Duca to pull into a nearby spot, however, he drove through multiple spots before stopping.

Upon speaking to Duca, police saw several $50 notes fall out of his wallet with Duca saying he just withdrew Centrelink money.

When they searched Duca, police felt what appeared to be a plastic clip seal bag hidden in his underwear.

Duca pulled the bag, which contained 27.1 grams of cannabis, out of his pants .

A police search of the car uncovered a cased knife located in the glovebox and a large black handled knife in the car’s boot next to an axe.

Duca claimed all the items in the car as his own and that he was taking them to get sharpened.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Merrilyn Hoskins said Duca was a man with long and worrisome criminal history, which featured “just about every charge imaginable”.

Acting Magistrate Ron Muirhead convicted and fined Duca $500 and recorded a conviction.
