A father of seven who brazenly stole from a Central Queensland charity store, has faced court.
Michael Patrick Hallinan, 59, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to stealing.
The court heard that about 11.04pm on February 15, Hallinan walked up to donation bins outside The Salvation Army in Auckland St, Gladstone Central.
There he searched through donations that had been left against the bins by members of the public.
He selected a bike helmet, photo frames and some clothing and stole the items.
The next day, The Salvation Army contacted police and reported ongoing issues with stealing from the donation bins.
The charity provided police with CCTV footage which captured Hallinan in the act of stealing.
Police prosecutor Jennifer Leach said when police questioned Hallinan, he admitted the offence and said he knew it was wrong.
Hallinan had a five-page criminal history which had no prior dishonesty offences on it.
Solicitor Jun Pepito said Hallinan was a father of seven receiving government benefits who’d entered an early plea of guilty.
Magistrate Mary Buchanan fined Hallinan $300 and a conviction was recorded.
