A parolee who threatened a Central Queensland supermarket manager during a confrontation has faced court on a string of charges.
Jamie Liam Hutchinson, 31, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on October 18 to 14 offences, including three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing a knife in public, attempted stealing, shoplifting and breaching bail.
The court heard that Hutchinson was on parole when he committed these offences.
In one of the incidents, Hutchinson went to an IGA store at Gladstone where he put a $6 chocolate in his pants.
The court heard the store manager approached him and asked him if he was going to pay for the item.
Hutchinson then told the store manager: “I just got out of jail, I’m on parole. You better watch yourself, I’ll be back for you.”
The court was told Hutchinson had breached his bail by returning to the IGA store at a later date.
The drugs Hutchinson was caught with were methamphetamine and cannabis.
The court heard that Hutchinson had a 10-page criminal history.
Solicitor Jun Pepito said Hutchinson was a father of one who knew his behaviour at that the IGA store was unacceptable.
Magistrate Mary Buchanan sentenced Hutchinson to four months’ jail, wholly suspended for an operational period of 15 months.
Convictions were recorded.
