A Central Queensland boilermaker has been slammed for his “deplorable behaviour” after stalking his ex-partner when their relationship ended.

Maclaine Andrew Anderson, 28, was sentenced in Gladstone District Court after pleading guilty to stalking (domestic violence offence).

Anderson’s offending happened between May and June this year after he and his partner of three-and-a-half years split up.

The court heard the stalking started when a jealous Anderson confronted the woman and accused her of sleeping with other men.

Anderson called the woman “crazy, mental, a narcissistic head case and f---ing putrid.”

Over 19 days, he phoned her 724 times - from an unlisted number and via Facebook Messenger.

One time the woman recorded Anderson’s “spiteful tirade”, the court heard.

Anderson also sent her abusive text messages and told her that he was going to take his own life.

When police spoke to him about that, he said the woman was “a crazy bitch” and “f---ed in the head.”

Anderson’s stalking escalated when he turned up to the woman’s home numerous times.

The court heard the woman was scared of Anderson, was “terrified” to provide a victim impact statement and had not done so.

Judge Jeff Clarke said what Anderson had done to the woman was “deplorable behaviour”.

The court heard Anderson had a “limited” criminal history which included dishonesty, drugs, and public nuisance in the vicinity of licensed premises offences.

A barrister said Anderson was a boilermaker and she tendered five references for him, further adding he was now on a mental health care plan.

On July 17, Judge Jeff Clarke declared 23 days’ pre-sentence custody as time served and placed Anderson on probation for two-and-a-half years.
