A Central Queensland man who violently attacked and injured his partner in a rage, told her that she needed to worship him.

The shocking domestic violence case was heard in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday where the 45-year-old man, who by law cannot be named, pleaded guilty to contravening a domestic violence order.

The prosecution said the incident happened about 1am on July 4 when the couple was at the man’s residence drinking alcohol.

It said a verbal argument took place with the man accusing his partner of “sleeping around.”

The man called the woman several names including “a bitch”, the prosecution said.

The man pulled the woman off a chair and onto the floor where he put one of his hands around her neck, and with his other hand, “grinded” his fist into her face.

While this occurred, the man continued to call the woman a bitch and told her that she needed to worship him.

The woman sustained cuts during the attack and a tooth also came loose in her mouth.

She managed to get away and leave the residence.

The court heard the man had domestic violence offending from a month prior on his criminal history.

Acting Magistrate Athol Kennedy placed him on 15 months’ probation and a conviction was recorded.
