A Dalby woman who was dealing meth to “feed her own addiction” will serve her jail sentence in the community after being given immediate parole.

Hailey Ellen Hughes’ was busted over supplying drugs after police discovered her entrepreneurial deals on one of her customer’s phones, Dalby District Court was told.

Crown prosecutor Matthew Le Grand said the 24-year-old dealt the insidious drug over a 10-day period in June 2020, supplying meth twice, and offering three times.

The court heard Hughes sold 1g of meth for $600 and 3.5g for $1600, with an offer to sell “two balls” the previous day for $3200.

A search of her home after the discovery of the deals by police uncovered 2g of marijuana, as well as drug related paraphernalia.

Mr Le Grand said what made the supplies serious was Hughes was placed on probation for a “street-level” supply of meth in 2019.

Defence barrister Daniel Boddice said the mother of one supplied drugs to “feed her own addiction”, and not for commercial gain.

Judge Alexander Horneman-Wren acknowledged Hughes became addicted to the “drugs and the dealers” at a young age, which caused her to start dealing herself.

Hughes pleaded guilty to five counts of supplying drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing utensils, possessing a restricted item, and the unlawful possession of a restricted drug.

She was sentenced to two years’ jail but was released on immediate parole.
