I don't think any parent of a female tween or teen survived this year without hearing their mini-me bang on about Sol de Janeiro.

The body sprays, yes. Even the adults can't get enough of their cult Brazilian Bum Bum cream. But at $75 for a 240ml tub at Mecca, it's an item many of us want but don't necessarily need

But what if it was a quarter of the price?

The dupe you didn't think you needed

Everyone's on the lookout for a good dupe to save their cash and while not all of them can really compare to the high-end original, every now and then we come across one that is just as good.

Enter scene: Palmer's Brazilian Coco Whipped Body Cream! Available for just $15.99 (250g) at Chemist Warehouse, this tub of tropical goodness rivals the famous Brazilian Bum Bum cream - and don't they know it! Even the tub is suspiciously similar.

Like the Bum Bum cream, the Palmer's cream promises to moisturise and firm areas such as your bum, belly and bust.

According to the product description, it will leave your skin "feeling tight and toned with a decadent tropical scent."

Speaking of scent... let's talk about that for a minute.

90s nostalgia in a tub

I said it smells like coconut, right?

But how would you react if I told you it can instantly take you back to the 90s? I'm talking about The Body Shop's famous Coconut Body Butter. I know you had it too!

The Palmer's cream smells JUST like it, and again, comes in a heap cheaper with The Body Shop's tub (yes, it's still around) retailing at $32 for a 200ml tub.

"It's FAR superior!"

Looking at the online reviews, it appears I'm not the only one who has fallen in love with the chemist item.

"OMG! I was spending over three times more for the OTHER cream - you know the one, from Brazil….Palmer’s is FAR superior," one person wrote.

"It is soooo rich, it smells like a deep, rich coconut cream and my skin drinks it in! It is not greasy but deeply moisturizing and the smell is so delicious! I will never go back to the other! Grab it before everyone catches on!!"

Ah, but it HAS caught on now. And not because I'm writing about it. The people behind the new cult upcomer know they're onto a good thing thanks to the customer feedback.

"We’ve received an outpouring of positive feedback in our online reviews and social media comments about the Palmer’s Brazilian Coco Cream. Customers love its rich, hydrating formula and indulgent tropical scent that has clinically proven results — and at a fraction of the price of other Brazilian-themed competitors," a rep for Palmer's boasted to Kidspot.

"The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many delighted to find a product that delivers deeply hydrated, deliciously scented skin (which Palmer’s is known for) without straining their budget. It’s affordable, decadent luxury, backed by clinical proof of its skin-firming benefits."

The fact that it takes you back to the 90s is just an added bonus.
