The 28-year-old was on parole and would remain in custody until the Parole board decided the status of that parole, the court heard.
He said he had not reported his car stolen because he didn’t talk to police, the court was told.
Because no suitable bail address could be found for the man, he has remained in custody since his arrest on Christmas Eve.
He said he had about 30 alcoholic drinks on the night coupled with the court fine made for an expensive night out.
