A TOOWOOMBA man held in custody since Christmas Eve because no suitable bail address could be found for him remains behind bars.

The 45-year-old appeared before Toowoomba Magistrates Court via video link from the prison today for a continuation of his bail application.

Due to the alleged domestic incident, the man was not permitted to return to the home he shared with the aggrieved woman and so he needed a bail address that was deemed suitable by police.

When at his initial court appearance on Christmas Eve the police prosecutor was given a potential bail address number to contact, she had returned to the court to say “there’s no room at the inn” due to that bail address being fully occupied.

The defendant’s solicitor Brad Skuse, of David Burns Lawyers, told the court today he had since tried to contact the numbers his client had given him for potential bail addresses but there had been no answer.

Mr Skuse asked that his client’s matters be adjourned to February 3 when he had other unrelated matters before the same court.

Acting Magistrate Roger Stark therefore remanded the man in custody and adjourned all matters to February 3 when they may be another bail application made.
