A collaboration between two well-known food businesses in Toowoomba is preparing for its grand opening in the coming weeks, filling up the empty restaurant space of the former Proof BBQ on Duggan St.
Loulaki will bring a Mediterranean cuisine to the CBD in an exciting partnership between owners of Piccolo Papa (Ceyda Saggers) and East Street Kitchen (Penny Hely), with renovations underway by Aspect Architects.
Much anticipation comes from the fusion of the restaurants that brought Toowoomba a cheese wheel pasta and provides the region with a boutique selection of canape platters.
It will offer a number of shared style Meze dishes with saganaki, dips and pita bread along with souvlaki charcoaled meats and fresh seafood, a press release from the restaurant said.
The menu is described as capturing “the essence of coastal living and communal dining, where the taste of the olive grove meets the gentle caress of the sea breeze”.
Located in the former premises of Proof BBQ and Booze in the Saba Building on Duggan St opposite Grand Central, the restaurant will add to the precinct bringing more style to the CBD, situated alongside the laneway behind the award-winning cocktail bar Sante and The Finch Cafe.
The building was redeveloped in 2018 and the tenants have included the pub, The Office, to rebranding to the Florence, to Volcanic Brewing and Proof BBQ and Booze.
Loulaki is expected to open its doors mid-to-late April 2024.
