Mouth-watering videos of pasta being served from giant cheese wheels have been floating around the internet for the past few years.
Now, an Italian restaurant has brought the concept to Toowoomba.
The idea is a giant wheel of cheese is hollowed out and turned into a flaming hot cheese bowl which is filled with freshly made pasta.
It makes for a cheesy, delicious pasta dish.
Piccolo Papa has now introduced Cheese Wheel Wednesdays, a night each week dedicated to cheese and pasta.
Guests are able to dine-in and eat fresh, handmade pasta which is prepared inside a 35kg grana Padano dop cheese wheel at their table.
Owner Ceyda Saggers said it was a must experience for cheese lovers.
“The concept is unique to Toowoomba as we wanted to do something different,” she said.
“So far people are loving it and we’ve had the whole restaurant booked out.
“The pasta is delicious and it’s also a dining experience. Our chef will come and serve pasta at your table straight out of the cheese bowl, and there are flames and everything.
“It’s a way to add some extra fun to your dining experience.”
Cost is $25 per person and comes with a drink. Guests can also add on pesto or pancetta if they’d like something extra.
Mrs Saggers said over time they would introduce new cheese and flavours depending on continued interest, such as truffles in June when we enter truffle season.
Cheese Wheel Wednesdays is available for lunch and dinner and bookings are recommended.
