The Willoughby Hotel

14/20

Contemporary$$

Positioned on a quiet suburban street, this neighbourhood pub is a family friendly sport and beer lover's haunt. The non-intrusive screens scattered about the room are showing several games, and there is a mighty good range of brews - from Fat Yak to Dirty Granny (oh my) - on tap. There are two levels, with the second featuring balconies and some lovely worn-in chesterfield couches. The pub is known for its steak, and the Angus flat-iron is well cooked and juicy. The beer-battered fish and chips are fresh and crispy, and the Marlborough Squealing Pig sauvignon blanc washes it all down nicely.
