Now that the Encyclopaedia Brittanica will no longer be published in book form, it's good to know we can enter the 'secret room' (it's behind the bookshelf) at this oh-so-charming corner cafe and pay homage to the multiple volumes on the library shelves. Owner and leading boutique coffee roaster and peddler, Ed Cutcliffe, is in the process of shifting the roaster to St Peters (11 May St, seeing you asked) and opening a tasting room. In the meantime, the freshly roasted house blend ($3) tastes sublime enough in the slightly ramshackle front room with its big open window and big jars of biscuits.
