This much-loved pub, where Phar Lap and 12 detectives rested on their way to a big race, harks back to genteel times with its heritage-listed facade and iron verandah. But inside it's had a complete makeover, with a smart dining area, beer garden, courtyard and kids' playroom. Moroccan lamb fillets with chat potatoes, roasted eggplant, capsicum and grilled shallots with an olive oil dressing are delish, as is the perfectly cooked vegetarian filo.
