Silk Coffee Bar
Contemporary
As cafe layouts go, this is one of the narrower ones you'll find. Coffee paraphernalia lines one wall, almost distracting from the Wega espresso machine decorated with the cafe name spelt out in Scrabble tiles. This playfulness belies a serious attitude to the coffee itself. A Single O caffe latte ($3.50) is well balanced, nutty and full bodied. Test the staff on their knowledge of espresso preparation, and you'll be so impressed, you'll feel compelled to try one. There's a chalkboard wall at the back of the cafe for the kids, and a few simple snacks for the muffin-deficient.
