Fat Fish
Seafood
Let’s cut to the chase: crisp, lacy beer batter, fish glistening and tender, chips lightly tanned: one terrific fish ’n’ chipper. A generous cut of grilled swordfish with garlic butter, so often dry, is sweet and moist, and the dozen-plus salads include a stand-out red quinoa option. Top salt-and-pepper calamari, prawns, lasagne, frittata, fish cakes, burger-with-the-lot: all are here. There’s limited pavement seating (some thoughtfully council provided), one of Sydney’s best wine shops close by, and Mum’s Home Made Rice Pudding. No wonder the staff know everyone in the takeaway queue: they’re back for more every other day. Gluten intolerant? They’ll use rice flour.
