The Village Larder
Contemporary$$
With the finest coffee in town and Mount Macedon framed in the front window, the Larder is sitting pretty. Chef Marika Oost delivers country comfort food with creative flair: delectable house-made crumpets are slathered in whipped cinnamon butter and banana jam; a ‘toasty with the mosty’ delivers ham-and-cheese melt, with fried egg and onion marmalade. Lunch on a tender Western Plains pork ciabatta with rhubarb relish, or a ricotta-enriched salad of slow-roasted leeks, mushrooms, crisp brussels sprouts, spuds and garlicky aioli. Behold the beauty of the cake counter before you leave - the yoghurt passionfruit cake and scones are exemplary.
