The Maling Room
Contemporary
Sitting by the gorgeous stained-glass windows you'd be forgiven for not knowing this former post office was a specialty coffee hotspot. But owner Andrew Lew uses the big Has Garanti roaster downstairs for Maling Room's Symmetry blend, a mix of Honduras, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Colombia and PNG beans, with nutty caramel sweetness and a mild finish. Upstairs the little Renegade works on a range of single origins: maybe a Kenya Kapsokiso or a Colombia Narino Penol with hints of peach and orange. Team with the 63 degree eggs, their lovely runny yolks perfect for mopping up with sourdough toast.
