Omar & the Marvellous Coffee Bird
Contemporary$$
Serious coffee lovers will fall to their knees at this hardcore temple to the bean. A wild industrial fitout of metal and wood, forklifts and ladders, and gleaming, churning roasters lends magic, while baristas and waitstaff will talk you through your coffee choice. An Ethiopian Sidamo pourover ($5, espresso $3.50) is feather-light and floral. There's a compact food menu of quality cafe classics, and a bright courtyard. But, really, it's all about the bean. The big roaster in the corner of Omar's industrial-chic cafe space turns out Omar's house blend, as well as a range of single origins with beans sourced by owner Andy Gelman. Try one through the Clever Dripper ($5).
