Bangalow Hotel

14.5/20

Contemporary$$

It's hard to choose between a high wooden table on the glorious back deck and the snug interior complete with fireplace, cosy nooks and couches. Either way the food is fresh and generous and startlingly good value for this upmarket country town. Small, sweet black mussels in a spicy tomato and basil broth come piled high under thick rafts of char-grilled sourdough; a chicken salad with roasted beetroot, avocado and pink grapefruit is gorgeously dressed and balanced. Two could share the chicken parmigiana with roasted kipflers, and the wine list is excellent. Service is prompt and friendly, and children are welcome.
