Cafe Shenkin
Middle Eastern$$
Shenkin serves up Israeli food, including cakes and pastries, all made in-house to family recipes. Locals love it on account of the great coffee and stellar brekkie options, including the shakshuka; a claypot containing eggs poached in tomato, capsicum, garlic and onion, served with fresh pita bread. It's comfort food at its best - spicy, warming and perfect for sharing. But if it's utter perfection you're after, try the 'Angelita' - little dishes of coriander dip, egg, hummus, and tomato and capsicum salsas, served with a house-made flat pastry, not unlike roti. The layered pastry is flaky, warm and buttery - and seriously, seriously good.
