Cafe Cre Asion
Contemporary
Owner and chef Yu Sasaki, who hails from a fine dining background (Marque, Universal, French Laundry), says he opened this little treasure of a cafe with a vision of something small and creative. All the breads, cakes and pastries, from yuzu or soybean macarons to sourdough to green tea shortbread biscuits are made in the tiny kitchen, and the spectacularly good sandwiches are made to order for maximum freshness. Although the coffee is mild, Sasaki handles his milk expertly, and both caffe latte and flat white ($3.50) are beautifully presented. Now all you have to do is brave the laneways to find it.
