Contemporary$$$

'Where food meets family' is the motto of this well-loved eatery and it is certainly a mantra that experienced restaurateurs Peter and Louise Michel implement across the board. Located in an old Queenslander, much of the residential charm still remains, with affable staff and a decidedly traditional interior providing a warm and hospitable welcome. The menu is similarly familiar with classic entrees such as a smooth duck liver pate, twice-baked souffle and a warm lamb and goat's cheese salad, and mains such as spiced chicken on Israeli couscous or a comfort food classic - sage-scented crumbed veal with truffled mash. While the menu plays it a little safe, each dish is executed with aplomb, with honest serving sizes leaving an overall feeling of contentment. Modern tweaks, such as a tapas bar menu and dessert tasting plates offer a contemporary edge and a great alternative for fast, midweek dining.
