Greenants footballer penalised for playing porn video during premiership celebrations

An NTFL footballer has been penalised by their club after reportedly playing a pornographic video amid premiership celebrations.

A PINT footballer has been sanctioned for reportedly playing a video with sexual content amid celebrations over the club’s Women’s Premier League premiership win.

The Queenants won their second WPL premiership in three seasons after they beat Waratah by 40 points at TIO Stadium on March 18.

However, it is understood celebrations were ruined and the clubhouse was shutdown after the video was broadcast.

It is unclear what level of football the player played at during the 2022-23 season or what kind of penalty they received.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the Greenants said an incident occurred during post-season celebrations which was a “serious breach” of its code of conduct.

“(It) does not align to our club values or ethos,” the club said, following the issuing of “player sanctions”.

“(The club) is taking the matter and complaints seriously and player sanctions have been issued.

“We deeply apologise to the members of the public and club members who were affected by the incident.

“As a club we are extremely disappointed with the incident.

“It has it has soured what was otherwise a great season for our club which was capped off by the amazing achievements of our women’s teams.”

The club said it would take “appropriate steps” to ensure all club members conducted themselves in a manner aligned with its code of conduct and values.

It declined to provide any further comment on the matter.

The club reported the incident to AFLNT in the days after the incident, the league confirmed.
