NTFL 2022-23: Watch PINT vs St Mary’s women’s preliminary final livestream

PINT secured their spot in the women’s premier league grand final on the back of a massive fourth quarter comeback against St Mary’s. WATCH THE REPLAY.

Replay: NTFL preliminary finals - PINT vs St Mary's (Women)

PINT will play Waratah in next Saturday’s Women’s Premier League grand final after a come-from-behind six-point win over St Mary’s preliminary final.

The Queenants came from 19 points down at three quarter-time to win by a goal after St Mary’s had controlled the match with their straight kicking and ferocious tackling.

PINT booted 4.2 to a single point in the last term to break St Mary’s hearts and enter their second WPL grand final in three seasons.

St Mary’s will have to wait for another year to snap a premiership drought stretching back to the 2009-10 season.

The match turned on its ear in the last 15 minutes when Jasmyn Hewett booted two goals - including the matchwinner with a minute left on the timeclock - and Casey Morris and Amy Chittick added two more to snatch the win.

Chittick said the last quarter turnaround was all about belief after falling behind in the first three quarters due to some sloppy work in their forward half.

“The biggest thing was just belief, we knew we could do it, we just had to believe in ourselves after we had a lot of ball in the forward 50 and just didn’t do enough with it,’’ she said.

“We probably didn’t use it to well in the first half but towards the end of the game every single player lifted that signalled the beleif we had in each other.

“And a shout out to our crowd and our supporters, they rode every possession with us and we could hear all the highs and lows, so thank you to everyone who came out today.

“I’m just so proud to be able to play alongside the girls at PINT this season.’’

St Mary’s will be kicking themselves after playing the better football for the first three quarters.

Danielle Ponter was superb with three goals, her first coming after a minute of play with a snap over her right shoulder from 30 metres that travelled through post high.

The Adelaide Crows forward had been in doubt all week with a sore shoulder after leaving the ground in the first minute of the first semi-final, but shook off any long term injury concerns with one of her best games for the Saints.

Billie Byers around the ball and Jacinta Friel on a wing were other contributors in a knockout final thaat got away from them.

LIVESTREAM PREVIEW

Minor premiers PINT have one last chance to jump into the women’s grand final, but an exciting St Mary’s outfit stand in their way.

And the NT News will be there to livestream every minute of the game exclusively for you from 4.30pm, Saturday.

The Queenants have been the benchmark side all season, winning all but one of their 16 regular season games.

However, in their first finals outing PINT ran into a stumbling block, losing to an in-form and match-fit Waratah.

They will be looking to return to their best this time around, but know in St Mary’s they come against the one side who beat them during the home-and-away season.

It’s a match the Green Machine will be taking plenty of confidence from with the side knowing how to get their better of their prelim-final rivals.

Saints were another of the more impressive teams during the season winning 12 of their last 13 games, after conceeding three losses in the opening rounds.

Last weekend they took their game to another level beating reigning premiers Darwin Buffettes despite losing star AFLW player Danielle Ponter for the majority of the match.

If you are attempting to cast the livestream or replay to a television, the best result can be achieved by either using a laptop/computer or a mobile phone.

The NT News and AFL Northern Territory have come together in a partnership to livestream Men’s Premier League games for this TIO NTFL season.
