UPDATED: A 31-YEAR-OLD local man has been killed in a motorcycle crash in Darwin’s rural area this morning.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said witnesses stopped and located the crash.
“The 31-year-old motorcyclist was headed outbound along Gunn Point rd. It appears he’s travelling at some significant speed” he said.
“He’s left the road or failed to negotiate the bend in the road opposite the Howard Springs reserve and travelled for a distance off road, collided with a number of signs and has died at the scene.
Investigations are continuing at the scene of the fatal accident at the Howard Springs Rd and Gunn Point Rd intersection with NT Police conducting drone surveillance sweeps.
Road diversions are in place but investigators expect them to be lifted soon.
EARLIER: NT Police and St John Ambulance are responding to a fatal crash on Gunn Pt Rd in Howard Springs, after being alerted to the incident just after 7am on Friday morning.
The coroner left the scene earlier mid-morning.

The Gunn Point Rd and Howard Springs Rd stretch is currently closed between Sittella and Willard Rds, with a traffic diversion in place from Stow Rd on Howard Springs Rd.
