Katherine couple have not ruled out extraterrestrial origins of mystery window smudge

A Katherine woman has not ruled out the extraterrestrial origins after a humanoid-like smudge appeared on her window. ‘The mystery is not solved’

Shooting star or UFO in Top End skies?

A Territory couple whose home was hit by a peculiar Unidentified Flying Object have been baffled by the humanoid-like smudge left on their window.

A Katherine woman, who asked not to be named, has turned to the online community to find answers after a mysterious mark appeared on her window one evening.

She described the smudge as a pale mark with “little paws on each side and a full body” left 1m up the window pane.

The Katherine resident said she and her husband were equally amused and confused by the Looney Tunes style slapstick splatter on the glass.

“We just started giggling,” she said.

“It looks a bit strange.”

Despite her husband having lived in Katherine all his life and having worked for Parks and Wildlife, they were both stumped trying to identify the creature behind the smudge.

“He’s got a lot of knowledge on the bush and even he’s been caught off-guard on this one,” she said.

To solve the mystery she shared a photo of the smudge on Sunday to a local Territory wildlife Facebook group, the NT Field Naturalists’ Club Inc.

“There are professionals and people who are really skilled with animals and the outdoor environment,” she said.

But even these experts were divided with some suggesting different birds, bats, frogs and even a “cocaine magpie”.

The Katherine woman said she hadn’t completely ruled out the suggestions that were a little more out of this world.

She said it was “absolutely” a possibility the smudge could be extra terrestrial in origin, with a 30cm wide alien landing on her window.

“We definitely don’t know what’s out there,” she said.

“We’re keeping our minds open at this point.

“The mystery is not solved.”

The Territorian who has been living in Katherine for three years said this was her first paranormal experience.

“This is our first spooky experience,” she said.

The Territory has always had a reputation for its UFO activities, with some alien enthusiasts believing the NT should cash in on its extraterrestrial visitors by enticing other (human) tourists to visit our paranormal hot spots.

But the otherworldly visitors have not always been well received, with Territory residents blaming aliens for their missing ducks, stolen Tuk Tuks and vandalism after leaving behind their suspicious crop circles.

While aliens hunters have been called out for using high-intensity lasers on overhead planes.
