GENEROUS locals are banding together to help fund the cost of a funeral for Darwin electrician Sean Cassidy after the 30-year-old died in a horrific car crash in Girraween.
Family friend Ryan Hipps started a GoFundMe campaign after Sean’s tragic death on Sunday, to assist his parents with funeral expenses.
The campaign originally had a target of raising $2000, but there has since been an outpouring of support for the memorial fund, with donations now well over $17,000.
Mr Cassidy was behind the wheel of a white Toyota LandCruiser utility when it rolled on Power Road, Girraween, just after 2.30am.
Police said he died at the scene after being ejected from the car.
Investigations into the circumstances around the crash are still ongoing.
Mr Cassidy posted a caring message to show support for his mates just a week before his untimely death.
“Phone is always on, door is open, fridge is full, and coffee can easily be brewed,” Mr Cassidy wrote on his Facebook page. “I’m doing a brother check-in. Especially this time of year. Showing support for one another.
“I need eight men to post, not share, this message to show you are always there if someone needs to talk.”
