June 19, 6pm: A Katherine house fire is being investigated by NT Police, who are calling in witnesses with dashcam footage to help them determine what happened.

Police said the fire happened on Callistemon Drive, Katherine East, and was first reported at about 2pm on Thursday.

Fireys attended the blaze, and no injuries were reported, police said.

A resident of the house had evacuated before first responders arrived.

Cops have called on anyone who was in the area between 1.45pm and 3.15pm on Thursday to get in touch on 131 444, quoting reference number NTP2500062594.

Woman allegedly mugged with teen girls wielding scissors in Darwin CBD

June 19, 3pm: Two girls are in custody and another is on the run after the trio allegedly mugged a woman while brandishing scissors in Darwin City.

At 6.30pm emergency services received reports that a 25-year-old woman had been robbed along Garramilla Boulevard on Wednesday.

It was alleged that three girls approached the woman and one attempted to steal her bag.

When the victim resisted, one of the girls allegedly produced a pair of scissors and threatened to stab her.

The victim then surrendered her bag, and the group allegedly fled the scene on foot.

There were no reported injuries during the incident.

Police patrolled the area and subsequently found and arrested two 13-year-old girls – one of whom was allegedly carrying items belonging to the victim.

Police are continuing to hunt for the other alleged offender.

The two 13-year-olds remain in police custody and charges are expected to follow.

Cars damaged at Katherine units

June 19, 2pm: Police are hunting for two youths who allegedly damaged several cars at a block of units in Katherine on Wednesday night.

The Northern Territory Police Force are calling for information after four vehicles were damaged at the Grevillea Rd units in Katherine East.

Police received reports of the damage on Thursday morning, and upon review of available CCTV footage it was identified that there were two suspects involved.

Police also allege the pair continued to canvass nearby properties throughout the night.

The persons of interest are believed to be youths, with one wearing a red hoodie with black sleeves, and the other wearing a camouflage patterned black and white hoodie.
