AN 18-YEAR-OLD woman has fronted court after allegedly biting a police officer while she was being arrested on Friday.
Shalayna Lechleitner appeared before Alice Springs Local Court on Tuesday after being charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

At around midnight on February 12 police spoke with four females who were drinking alcohol in Todd Mall. Police seized the alcohol, during which the 18-year-old allegedly became hostile towards the officer and she was arrested.
During the arrest, she allegedly bit the officer on the chest.
The officer was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment but did not require admission.

Commander Craig Laidler said it was “unacceptable” behaviour. “We take a zero-tolerance approach to assaults on members of the police force,” he said.
Lechleitner was granted bail to appear in court on March 2.
