NT Police Southern Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Adrian Kidney said members of Strike Force Viper had been speaking to four women drinking in Alice Springs’ Todd Mall about midnight when they were approached by the 18-year-old, who allegedly “began abusing them, acting in a disorderly manner”.

When one officer went to arrest the woman for disorderly conduct, she allegedly turned around and bit him.

“Whilst executing the arrest, the female bit a member on the chest,” Sr Sgt Kidney said.

“The member sustained bruising and minor laceration to the chest from the bite.

“He attended (Alice Springs Hospital) for treatment to the wound.”

The 18-year-old woman was arrested for assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, and was transported to the local watch house.
