According to the Victoria Falls website, it is one of the greatest attractions in Africa and has one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world, located on the Zambezi River.

It is the fourth largest river in Africa and at 106 metres, it’s as high as a 35-storey building, 13 metres taller than the Statue of Liberty from pedestal to torch, and more than twice as high as Niagara Falls.

“The noise of Victoria Falls can be heard from a distance of 40km, while the spray and mist from the falling water is rising to a height of over 400 metres and can be seen from a distance of 50km,” the site states.

While it’s a hotspot for tourists, disappearances are understood to be rare in the area.

However, cases similar to the missing Australian man have been recorded in other Zimbabwean parks, such as Matusadona National Park, where a German tourist went missing late last year.

Despite it teeming with wild animals, he was found alive and in good health three days after he was reported missing in October.
