Beau Lamarre-Condon allegedly sent text messages from his ex-boyfriend’s phone, who he is accused of murdering alongside his new partner.

Beau Lamarre-Condon has been accused of sending text messages from the phone of one of his alleged victims, telling the man’s house mates he was moving from Sydney to Perth.

Mr Lamarre-Condon, 28, handed himself into police on Friday before being charged with two counts of murder, relating to the disappearance of his ex-boyfriend, TV presenter Jesse Baird, 26, and his Qantas flight attendant partner, Luke Davies, 29.

The pair were announced missing last Monday, with police holding “grave concerns” for the couple after their bloodied clothes were discovered behind a skip-bin in the southern suburb of Cronulla, 30km away from Mr Baird’s home.

It has since been revealed two lengthy text messages were sent from Mr Baird’s phone days after his alleged death, leading police to believe he was still alive, according to The Sunday Telegraph.

One text was centred around collecting furniture from his Paddington property and putting them into storage because he was moving to Perth on Sunday, while the other was allegedly saying to instead put the items on the street, according to the publication.

“They (the texts) made us think they were still alive,” an unnamed police source told The Sunday Telegraph.

During a press conference on Friday with detective superintendent Daniel Doherty, a reporter alleged colleagues of Mr Baird were receiving text messages from him up until late on Tuesday night.

“Who actually had attributed use of that phone is still to be established as part of our inquiry,” Supt Doherty said.

“Again a lot of information has come to hand, there’s a lot of evidence that still has to go through [and] that includes phone data and vehicle movements and most importantly trying to locate the bodies.”

Police Commissioner extends ‘heartfelt condolences’

It comes as NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb extended her “heartfelt condolences” to the family and friends of Mr Davies and Mr Baird on Sunday afternoon.

“It is difficult to comprehend the grief and pain of their loss,” she said in a statement.

“I acknowledge this week’s events are distressing for many and I share the sadness and shock about the alleged nature of Luke and Jesse’s deaths.

“I understand there are many unanswered questions and while I cannot comment on the matter before the courts, I can reassure Luke and Jesse’s loved ones, and the people of NSW, that we are working around the clock to find those answers.”

On Friday, Mr Lamarre-Condon was charged with two counts of murder after he handed himself into Bondi Police Station.

The bodies of the two men have not yet been found.

Police allege Mr Lamarre-Condon killed the two men at Mr Baird’s rented Paddington home in Sydney’s inner-east sometime between 12am and 5.30am on Tuesday morning and then used a hired white van to transport and dispose of their bodies.

It is alleged his police Glock pistol was used before it was checked back into a suburban police station safe on Tuesday.

It’s thought Mr Baird, who was also an AFL umpire, and Mr Lamarre-Condon broke up just a few months ago.

Mr Baird’s relationship with Mr Davies was announced on Instagram in the past two weeks with a picture of the pair at a beach and in the Hunter Valley.

The couple were last seen in public at the Beresford pub in Darlinghurst, near Sydney’s CBD, on Sunday.

Police divers search waterways

The investigation into the couple’s alleged murder has shifted focus in the last 48 hours, with police divers searching a waterway in the Newcastle suburb of Lambton, 160km away from the scene of the alleged murder.

It comes after a white van believed to have been the one in the CCTV footage is spotted in the Lambton suburb of Newcastle.

The divers were assisted by homicide detectives on Friday and Saturday as they searched for clues.

Mr Baird’s home was turned into a makeshift memorial on Saturday, with friends and supporters leaving flowers and cards outside to show their support.

Some of the bouquets were left in the street while others were slotted into the railings outside the terrace house.

One card left at the scene reads: “Lukey and Jesse. Rest in peace boys. We will miss you. So much.”

It comes amid an outpouring of grief over their deaths, including from Mr Baird’s cousin Austin who shared an emotional tribute to Instagram on Saturday.

“Jesse, my first ever best friend, I am beyond devastated. I still can’t believe it. Most of my favourite memories in life were me, Luke, Brendan and you riding motorbikes, skiing, boating and camping,” he wrote on Instagram, according to the Daily Mail.

“I’ll never forget our chats, all the times we would hang out on the weekends and go away with family and friends.

“I told you things I’d never tell anyone I trusted you, I’ve laughed and cried in front of you!

“You were one in a million, you cared about everyone and left such an impact on every person you met!

“I’ll love and remember you forever mate. It is an honour to be your cousin. Till we meet again.”

Mr Baird’s colleagues in the Channel 10 newsroom have also been left devastated by the sudden loss of their beloved friend.

“The warmth and happiness he let out into the world is unmatched,” 10 News producer Jack Foster wrote on X.

“Rest in peace dearest Jesse. We are all heartbroken and shattered.”

National Affairs Editor for 10 News Hugh Riminton, writing on Friday, said there would “many tears tonight”.

“RIP my beloved young colleague, Jesse,” he wrote.

Mr Lamarre-Condon, who was refused bail, appeared before Waverley Local Court on Friday afternoon.
