Timeline of how Channel 10 reporter Jesse Baird and boyfriend Luke Davies went missing – as cop charged with their murder
The alleged full and chilling timeline of Channel 10 star Jesse Baird and his boyfriend’s disappearance can now be revealed, as a cop is charged with murder.
It’s one of Australia’s most shocking alleged murders – two men, young and in love, going about their lives before meeting a gruesome end.
Jesse Baird, 26, a former Channel 10 TV presenter and his Qantas flight attendant partner Luke Davies, 29, have been missing since Monday.
Police said they held “grave concerns” for the pair on Wednesday after their bloodied clothes were discovered behind a skip-bin in the southern suburb of Cronulla, 30km away from Mr Baird’s home.
Mr Baird’s former partner Beau Lamarre-Condon, a serving NSW Police officer, was charged with two counts of murder after handing himself in to Bondi Police Station Friday morning.
Police allege Lamarre-Condon killed the two men at Mr Baird’s Paddington home in Sydney’s inner-east some time between 12am and 5.30am on Tuesday morning and then used a hired white van to transport and dispose of their bodies.
It is alleged his police gun was used, and neither of the men’s bodies have been found.
Here’s how one of Sydney’s most shocking stories unfolded.
Sunday, February 18
The couple go out with friends on Sunday night at Sydney’s inner city Beresford Hotel in a pre Mardi Gras party.
Monday, February 19
They return to Mr Baird’s plush rented terrace home in Paddington in Sydney’s eastern suburbs in the early hours of Monday morning, police say.
Neighbours allegedly heard some shouting coming from the home but nothing alarming, they said. A white van was also spotted at the home.
Police believe the couple were both killed sometime between 12am and 5.30am on February 19.
Tuesday, February 20
Mr Baird’s phone is said to have been used to send messages to friends, and his WhatsApp status records him as last online at 11.45pm on Tuesday.
Lamarre-Condon calls in sick to work, but returns his police firearm to a suburban police station.
Wednesday, February 21
11am: A groundskeeper at Club Cronulla in Sydney’s south discovers bloody possessions and clothing belonging to the couple which have been dumped in a skip in the street. The discovery triggers an urgent search for the pair.
1pm: A check on Mr Baird’s home finds bloodstains on the furniture and floorboards but no trace of the men. A further check on Mr Davies’ home in Waterloo also shows no sign of the pair.
Thursday, February 22
2.15pm: Police admit they have grave concerns for the men and appeal for them to get in touch.
5pm: It emerges police are also seeking Mr Baird’s ex-boyfriend, Police Constable Beau Lamarre-Condon, who they cannot contact. Friends told investigators that Mr Baird was worried he was being stalked by a police officer. Lamarre-Condon’s name is then raised with police.
10pm: The white van believed to have been the one in the CCTV footage is spotted in the Lambton suburb of Newcastle, 165km north of Sydney.
11.30pm: Police raid the home of Lamarre-Condon’s relatives in Balmain in Sydney’s inner west and take away multiple items.
Friday, February 23
2am: Police open a new crime scene in Newcastle, 165km away, sealing off a street in Lambton after a white van matching the description was spotted in Karoola Road near Lambton Pool.
9.55am: Lamarre-Condon’s phone comes back to life and begins accepting calls again.
10.30am: Lamarre-Condon hands himself into police at Bondi Police Station.
2.15pm: Police confirm Lamarre has been charged with two counts of murder.
2.30pm: The white Toyota HiAce with NSW registration CW82PM is located and news.com.au films it being removed from Grays Point in Sydney’s south. Police say it is “important that we get the movements in relation to that van as hopefully we can find the bodies and this is important for the family”.
3.45pm: Lamarre-Condon briefly appears before Waverley Local Court on Friday afternoon wearing a black T-shirt.
