ATSB is investigating after a seaplane ditched into the water off Whitehaven Beach
An investigation is underway after a seaplane carrying five people ditched into the ocean at a popular tourist hotspot.
A sea plane carrying five people has crashed into waters off world-famous Whitehaven Beach during joy flight in Queensland.
The DHC-2 Beaver floatplane was travelling over the popular tourist hotspot when the incident occurred sometime between 8.30 and 9am Saturday.
A pilot and four passengers were on-board when its understood the aircraft ditched into the ocean.
An Australian Transport Safety Bureau spokesman confirmed it was investigating the incident.

It’s understood the plane was attempting to land on the water off Whitehaven Beach before it ditched into the ocean.
Nobody on-board was injured during the crash.
The ATSB will continue to gathering further information to better understand the circumstances of the accident.
