Ciarran Stott reveals sobriety journey after ‘alcohol & drugs’ caused ‘biggest mistakes’

Once-Bachelorette favourite Ciarran Stott has disclosed his battle with alcohol and drugs, revealing the “long road ahead” in his health journey.

Bachelor in Paradise: Did Ciarran fool us all?

Former Bachelorette contestant and renowned franchise “bad boy” Ciarran Stott is turning over a new leaf.

The reality TV star, originally from Angie Kent’s 2019 season of the show, has opened up about his struggle with drugs and alcohol, vowing to join the “sobriety club” and become “the best version of (himself) he can be”.

Posting to Instagram on Thursday night, Stott wrote: “Healing the mind, body and soul. One day at a time,” before admitting “the biggest mistakes (he’s) made in life” come from when he’s consumed alcohol and drugs.

“So I decided it was finally time to put a stop to it all,” he declared in the caption of a workout video.

“No more drinking! No more drugs! No more of that bullsh*t. I turn into the biggest muppet there is and hurt the people closest to me over and over again.”

He went on to say he “probably should’ve realised” he had a problem “a few years ago,” but added that “it’s better late than never”.

“It’s a long road ahead to becoming the best version of myself I can be. One for myself and two for my relationship and family. The support from my partner, family and friends is next to none and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you all,” he concluded.

Stott’s candid post comes after rumours reported on gossip site So Dramatic! this week that Stott was caught kissing a co-star while filming Ten’s new reality show The Challenge Australia, despite being in a relationship with Melbourne woman Ruby Burciaga.

Ex-Army rifleman Stott, 28, first rose to reality fame on The Bachelorette in 2019, where he emerged a favourite before notably wreaking havoc on the show’s spin-off series in Fiji the following year.

Fans saw a very different side to the once-loveable reality, infuriating audiences with his lies and combative nature as he moved through women including Abbie Chatfield, Jessica Brody and Kiki Morris.

Last year, he appeared on The Bachelorette in Sweden in the race to win the heart of Swedish Bachelorette, Julia Franzén.

“I’m gonna steal the show, and probably steal her heart too. I definitely feel like the boys should be threatened by me, being from Australia with an English accent. Hot, heavy, ready. Let’s go,” he said in a clip from the show.

Stott lasted until episode 10 of the show, going on to debut his relationship with Burciaga in December.

Stott has spoken openly about his drug use in the past, telling So Dramatic! last year that his overnight fame from the Bachelorette franchise drastically changed his attitude.

“When I’d just come out of The Bachelorette, everything was blowing up. I was going around Australia, I was partying, I was doing a lot of illegal substances, I was going a bit crazy. I just got caught in the headlights with fame,” he said, adding, “I didn’t stay true to myself. I started acting different, even my family could see it. I was being distant from them.

“It affected my family, my friends, my relationships that I was in.”

He went on to admit that he “regrets” appearing on Bachelor in Paradise, saying hehad no respect for myself and definitely no respect for anyone on the show.”

“I regret everything to do with Paradise, I regret going on the show. If I could push the restart button and go in there again, I wouldn’t have gone in with that attitude.”
