Reality star Ciarran Stott blames ‘illegal substances’ for downfall

He was a fan favourite on Angie Kent’s season of The Bachelorette — but a fatal mistake saw Ciarran Scott suddenly become the villain.

Two-time reality star Ciarran Stott has detailed going from fan favourite to Bachelor in Paradise’s villain, blaming “a lot of illegal substances” for his poor behaviour.

He first appeared on The Bachelorette, in 2019, where he vied for Angie Kent’s roses. The heavily-tattooed man, with long bleach blonde hair, stood out from the other competitors and wasn’t afraid to show his sensitive side.

While Stott didn’t win the show, he won over the Australian audience when he left the program after his nan died.

But then he reappeared on Bachelor in Paradise 10 months later with a very different persona.

“When I‘d just come out of The Bachelorette, everything was blowing up. I was going around Australia, I was partying, I was doing a lot of illegal substances, I was going a bit crazy. I just got caught in the headlights with fame,” he told the So Dramatic! podcast.

“Before I went on the show I thought, ‘All this fame, money, partying, getting flown around Australia, this is what I want!’”

Stott said the fame went to his head and he started behaving differently, prompting concern from his loved ones.

“I let it change me. I didn’t stay true to myself. I started acting different, even my family could see it. I was being distant from them,” he said.

“It affected my family, my friends, my relationships that I was in.”

On Bachelor in Paradise fans saw a very different side to the once loveable reality star, infuriating audiences with his lies and combative nature while on the show.

But while many reality stars like to complain about producers giving them a ‘bad edit’, Stott says he has no-one to blame but himself.

“I’m not going to put it down to edits because it’s all actions that I did,” he said.

“On The Bachelorette I was sweet, I was myself, but then when the fame got to me, I used that to [my] demise.

“I let it snowball into the worst thing possible and I wasn’t myself anymore,” Stott added.

Today, Stott deeply regrets his decision to appear on reality TV for a second time.

Stott now wishes he had never gone on Bachelor in Paradise.

“I wish I never went on Bachelor in Paradise. Everything went absolutely sideways for me,” he said.

“When I was [on Bachelor in Paradise], I had no respect for myself and definitely no respect for anyone on the show.

“I regret everything to do with Paradise, I regret going on the show. If I could push the restart button and go in there again, I wouldn’t have gone in with that attitude.”

But since facing a fan backlash Stott has turned his life around, setting down in Melbourne where he now works as a personal trainer.
