Melbourne gangland figure Mohammed Oueida is back behind bars on serious drug charges just weeks after being freed on bail.
Police will allege 14kg of methamphetamine was found in a Perth home where Oueida was arrested in a dressing gown after an early morning police raid this month.
Detectives attached to Operation Repeater allegedly found the methamphetamine in glass jars inside a duffel bag after storming the house at suburban Ballajura.
Dramatic police body-cam footage of the raid shows a total of $10,000 cash and multiple encrypted mobile phones being seized.
Oueida is alleged to have smashed a mobile phone against a bench top as investigators moved in.
Assistant Commissioner Tony Longhorn later described Oueida as a “significant target” and said the syndicate targeted in Repeater had interstate connections.
“He’s of significant interest to WA Police and police on the east coast,” Mr Longhorn said.
The Ballajura home was the address to which Oueida was bailed to live.
Mr Longhorn said the 14kg of drugs confiscated would have been “dispersed rapidly”.
Oueida has been charged with possessing a trafficable amount of methamphetamine with intent to sell or supply and possessing stolen or unlawfully obtained property.
He had only been on bail a matter of weeks before the Ballajura bust.
Oueida had been facing charges over a 2021 investigation bust in which 33kg of meth and 50,000 pills were found in a rented Winnebago crossing the Nullarbor.
It was alleged he was involved and had followed the Winnebago in a Hummer as it crossed the continent.
Oueida is a well-known identity in Melbourne’s northern suburbs who once drove a Ferrari, had a pilot’s licence and lived in a sprawling mansion at Greenvale.
He survived being shot outside the Coburg Mosque in 2017.
Another man, 49, of Ellenbrook, has also been charged as part of the Repeater investigation.
He faces counts of selling, supplying or offering to sell or supply a trafficable amount of methamphetamine, possessing stolen or unlawfully obtained property, money laundering, possessing cannabis and drug paraphernalia.
He is accused of being the person who couriered the drugs to the Ballajura home.
