Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers.

Resting radio host Marty Sheargold is eyeing a return to the spotlight — but it doesn’t involve his Triple M breakfast show.

Sheargold has been on personal leave since mid October.

He requested time off after an incident at the 2023 AFL Grand Final.

The radio host and comedian left the match at halftime after complaints from guests about his behaviour.

Triple M’s parent company Southern Cross Austereo said Sheargold was taking a break to spend more time with family.

Sheargold will co-headline the show alongside Sam Pang, Mick Molloy and Lawrence Mooney.

An SCA spokesman said: “Marty Sheargold left the AFL grand final at halftime of his own accord. We will continue to support Marty’s request for personal leave to spend time with his family and we look forward to having him back on air soon.”

SCA is yet to confirm whether Sheargold will return to Triple M in 2024.

Meanwhile, Sheargold will co-headline a show with The Comedians, an all-star ensemble alongside Mick Molloy, Sam Pang and Lawrence Mooney in February.

The foursome will perform at the Geelong Arts Centre.

“No holds barred, good old fashioned stand-up comedy,” reads a promo for the event.

“Radio, television, film, podcasts, they’ve done it all and now, they bring all the laughs to the stage.”

Last month, Sheargold’s radio show scored a ratings jump, and enjoyed a 7.2 per cent audience share, up 1.4 per cent from the previous survey.

But the audience increase came without Sheargold in the hot seat.
