The Source: Melbourne real estate billboards mocked for displaying agent rather than the property

Who needs pics of a home for sale when you can instead gaze upon a full-body shot of a real estate agent. Property billboards which sell the agent rather than the property are being mercilessly mocked.

Real estate signs which show the agent not the home are being trolled online.

Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers.

Buying an average house in Melbourne: $900,000. Making fun of real estate agents? Priceless.

Melbourne house prices may be absurd, but at least we can all afford to laugh at the conceit and vanity of real estate agents.

Eagle-eyed Melburnians have been sharing stories on reddit about real estate boards that feature larger photos of the agents than the houses – that’s if they have any photos of houses at all.

“Some pictures of the house would be nice on such a giant sign instead of a full body shot of the agent,” said one.

“I would never understand real estate advertisements: who gives a damn about how the agent looks but their ability to sell/ find tenants/buyers. It’s a very self-centred approach “another property sold by XYZ” rather than focusing on the customer…,” said another.

The discussion soon descended into a satisfying level of nitpicking reserved only for arrogant agents: “Tight slacks and sockless,” the first person said.

“Photoshopped watch,” said a second.

A second offering with not one but two pretentious agents on full display was soon produced from a site in Vermont.

As one passer-by noted: “They had 2 signs out the front of some pull down property, both signs simply have their logo, then the full sized, full body, portrait photos of each of them from their website”.

“No details, nothing promotional about the property whatsoever, no QR code to take you to a web link with more details, just 8ft tall photos of these (description deleted) using the property for self-promotion.”

Oh, and yes, another one who needs socks.

Pamela Anderson banned?

It’s been brought to the Source’s attention that the Administrative Appeals Tribunal has banned Pamela Anderson.

Unfortunately, the above fact needs to be clarified.

It appears the Pamela Anderson in question is not the Pamela Anderson who has featured on Baywatch and many supreme TV and movie offerings over the years.

This Pamela Anderson is a Victorian financial adviser who cannot provide financial services for two years.

The AAT decision follows an Australian Securities & Investments Commission ruling relating to personal advice given to the non-Baywatch Anderson’s retail clients.

“The AAT accepted ASIC’s submission that had Ms Anderson acted consistently with her obligations as an adviser, virtually none of her clients would ever have been advised to invest in [a high risk fund] IIOF, or have invested in it, and they would not have been affected by the collapse of IIOF,” the AAT said.

Is there solace for Pamela Anderson in something the other Pamela Anderson (herself generating news, for avoiding makeup on red carpets) once said?

“I don’t really think about anything too much,” the Baywatch Pamela Anderson explained. “I live in the present. I move on. I don’t think about what happened yesterday.”
