Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers.

Friends and colleagues are rallying around Triple M star Marty Sheargold as he takes personal leave from his popular breakfast show.

The high-profile broadcaster is taking a break to spend more time with family.

His departure follows an incident at the AFL Grand Final in which Sheargold was punted from the stands after complaints about his behaviour.

The Source reported on the incident a week ago.

Since then, the radio station had apologised to complainants on behalf of their employee.

The Source contacted the radio station for comment, but media minders did not reply.

Meanwhile, changes may be in the pipeline at Triple M with Eddie McGuire’s Hot Breakfast producer, Jay Mueller, returning to the station as program director.

As one former breakfast host said: “There’s a lot of pressure in that (breakfast) job.”

Sheargold occasionally appears on the Channel 10 show Have You Been Paying Attention.

Any publicity is good publicity for Beef Wellington

The fallout from a Leongatha lunch after which three people died of suspected poisoning from a Beef Wellington meal seems set to go for years.

In the meantime, fancy Melbourne butcher Meatsmith will soon release a recipe book featuring a front cover photo of Beef Wellington and the title: “Home cooking for friends and family”.

Wealthy meat eaters might be aware that Meatsmith, a partnership between restaurateur Andrew McConnell (Gimlet, Cutler & Co) and butcher Troy Wheeler, sells Beef Wellingtons (with housemade mushroom duxelles) for $92 a pop.

So while mushroom sales took a dip on the back of the deadly Leongatha lunch, it seems the reputation of the English classic is still in good shape.
