The Source: Drunken Melbourne radio host’s worst-on-ground performance at AFL Grand Final

A boozed-up Melbourne radio host was drop punted from the AFL Grand Final after putting in a worst-on-ground performance.

A high profile Melbourne radio host was punted from the AFL grand final at halftime after a worst-on-ground drunken and offensive performance.

Several complainants filed grievances about the radio star’s behaviour, whose crude remarks and language was spicier than the fire and flames of pre-game entertainers Kiss, and his demeanour sloppier than Jarrod Berry, who gave away two 50-metre penalties on the big day.

After numerous protests, the badly behaved broadcaster was booted from the MCG at halftime by organisers hosting the corporate gathering.

Since then, it appears the radio station has apologised to complainants on behalf of their foul-mouthed employee.

The station did not reply to The Source’s call for comment.

Collingwood’s California Dreamin’ with LA Kings tie up

LA Kings president Luc Robitaille says the NHL team is keen to strengthen ties with the Collingwood Football Club.

The Kings visited the Magpies HQ, and attended Collingwood’s preliminary final win against GWS, during a trip to play two sold-out exhibition matches at Rod Laver Arena last month.

“We went to see the Collingwood practice facility, and met with (Magpies chief executive) Craig Kelly, and the coach (Craig McRae). It was a great experience … and we’d like to continue this relationship moving forward,” Mr Robitaille said.

“I think our teams could share things regarding player performance. We want to understand what their players go through with injuries because we go through the same.

“The other thing is, we share the same team colours, so there’s some things we can do marketing wise.”

Mr Robitaille, a former player, has won three Stanley Cup championships, as a member of the Detroit Red Wings in 2002, and as an LA Kings executive in 2012 and 2014.

He was inducted into the Hockey Hall Of Fame in 2019.

The LA Kings and Arizona Coyotes played two exhibition matches in front of 30,000 fans at Melbourne Park last month.

“We loved Melbourne, the city and the people,” Mr Robitaille said.

He hopes the NHL stages more games in Melbourne in future.

Adam Burke, president and chief executive of the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board, said: “Other leagues will be watching (the success of the NHL games at RLA) and they’ll see a sport that’s not even broadly played in Australia, yet can achieve a complete sell out,” Mr Burke said.

“There’s a real appetite for professional sport in Melbourne, and it means you’re going to see other franchises wanting to bring their game here as well.”
