Two high school students were left hospitalised after a father allegedly helped his teenage son violently bash the pair following a brawl at a school in Melbourne’s north.
The Herald Sun understands the father-son duo unleashed on the students near Fitzroy High School last Friday afternoon, after a fight first broke out on school grounds during school hours.
It is understood two 17-year-old students had confronted the teenage assailant over his behaviour toward another student.
But the attacker is believed to have enlisted his father’s help to later confront the pair about 3.30pm on Queens Parade, outside the school’s Wurun Senior Campus.
One 17-year-old was understood to be left with severe head injuries, while the other reportedly suffered major injuries to his jaw.
The 17-year-olds, from Northcote and Kew, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the man and teenager fled the scene after assaulting the teens.
A Department of Education spokesman said the incident involved a small number of students.
“The reported behaviour does not reflect the values or behaviour of the vast majority of students at the school,” he said.
No arrests have been made and investigations into the assault are ongoing.
It comes after police investigated a vicious fight at a Hoppers Crossing high school last month that left some students “covered in blood”.
Six students aged between 14 and 16 at Grange P-12 College were involved in a brawl at lunch time.
Earlier this year police and ambulance were called to St Bede’s College in Mentone following a “serious” fight among senior students.
The Herald Sun also revealed that Victorian students were being threatened with tasers, having their heads shoved into toilets and humiliated with naked photos as part of a disturbing trend dubbed “lacking”, in which footage is posted on Meta-owned Instagram.
