CONSTRUCTION on Chris Hemsworth’s sprawling new mansion in Broken Head, just south of Byron Bay, is still rolling on, more than 18 months after the plans were first lodged.
But the Thor star can take comfort, or even some design tips, from other Aussie celebs who’ve been in the reno game.
Here are some of the most glamorous homes Aussie celebs created for themselves — and how they stack up to the mini waterparks and private beaches some international stars come home to.

ELSA PATAKY: ‘MORE TO ME THAN BEING MRS CHRIS HEMSWORTH’
Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky
The couple brought the Broken Head property for $7.2 million in 2014 but in 2016, submitted plans to the local council for the estimated $8.78 million renovation.
The plans included demolishing the existing home and its Balinese-style swimming pool.
The 4.2ha estate, just off Seven Mile Beach, had multiple separate villas on the site before the new project began.
There will be plenty of space for the couple’s three children, twin boys Tristan and Sasha and daughter India Rose, in the idyllic bush surrounds.
In 2016, Hemsworth’s wife Elsa Pataky told the Herald Sun that moving to Australia and Byron Bay was “the best thing I did in my life”.
“We are trying to be normal people and being able to go with the kids and there are no photographers and people following you,” she said in the interview.

Jennifer Hawkins and Jake Wall
The model and former Miss Universe has lived in several gorgeous homes in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, including this North Curl Curl property, complete with a shoe-lover’s dream walk-in wardrobe.
But it’s their latest Newport home that will make property lovers seriously envious.
The couple sold the North Curl Curl home for $4.1 million in 2014 but it’s not their only project in the area, with another five-bedroom luxury property sold in North Curl Curl in 2016.
Husband Jake Wall runs luxury home company J Group Projects, so it’s no surprise the pair are fans of creating standout homes.
Late last year they finished their current $6 million base further north in Newport, which has a private beach and stunning Pittwater views.

Chris and Rebecca Judd
The former footballer and his TV host wife have a love for renovations, with Bec Judd’s blog profiling the pair’s previous projects.
Their most recent sale was a luxurious Brighton family home, complete with man cave, large living spaces and resort-style pool.
The five bedroom home with parent’s retreat went for an undisclosed sum earlier this week and Bec Judd took to Instagram to post plans for the next project.

JUDD FAMILY’S PRAHRAN PROPERTY UP FOR GRABS
In 2016, the couple listed their Prahran town home with a price guide of $1.8-1.9 million.
They called the pad home for six years when they first moved from Perth, before leasing it.
Lleyton and Bec Hewitt
The tennis star and former Home and Away actor have lived all over Australia, from Adelaide to Sydney, but now call Melbourne home in a stunning $12.7 million Toorak mansion.
Their Toorak property does not include a tennis court, with the pair swapping acreage life in the north west Sydney suburb of Kenthurst for this more inner-city home.

The family’s previous home had two tennis courts and an inground pool with children’s wading area.
Shannon Bennett and Madeleine West
The celebrity chef and his actor wife have recently traded one inner south mansion for another, selling their South Yarra pad and shifting to Toorak.
INTERNATIONAL CELEB MANSIONS
Celine Dion
Aussie stars have nothing on their US-based counterparts, and the Canadian songstress Celine Dion’s recently-sold property has to stand out from the pack.
This water-park themed estate in Jupiter Island, Florida has a lazy river, perfect for floating, and a choice of waterslides.
There’s also a treehouse and tennis court — and an expanse of beach frontage.
It was originally on the market for a whopping US $72m but eventually sold several years later for US $28m.
Justin Bieber
Bieber lives in the type of mansions you’d expect a pop star to live in — sprawling and with oversized garages and many bathrooms.
The “Sorry” singer sold his Calabasas home to Khloe Kardashian for $7.2 million in 2014 before moving into the ultra modern Beverly Hills home known as the “Glass House”.
Bieber briefly rented the 7,500 square foot bachelor pad, featuring six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a seven-car garage, an infinity pool on an acre of property.
Jerry Seinfeld
The comedy legend put his Telluride mansion up for sale in 2011.
But there was nothing funny about the price it was listed for: a cool $18.2 million.
The 11 bedroom, 14 bathroom luxury home sits on almost 15 thousand square meters, is surrounded by woodlands and has views of nearby mountains.
